The University of Nevada, Reno produced a report which indicates that used coffee grounds contain from 11% to 20% oil that results in a stable diesel. They also concluded that if all the coffee grounds were collected from Starbucks then they could be processed into about 2.9 gallons of biodiesel every year.
There are various studies currently being conducted around the globe right now to determine if it is economical to collect used coffee grounds and produce biofuel from it.
